Each year on the Friday of Scandinavian Days—typically held the first weekend in June—Grace United Methodist Church comes alive with activity as the United Women in Faith host their annual Bake Sale and Lunch. In the days leading up to Scandinavian Days, the ladies of UWF gather to make potato cakes, also known as lefse, for the bake sale—one of the more popular and eagerly anticipated items. These workdays are filled with laughter, conversation, and fellowship as hands work side by side, strengthening relationships while carrying on a meaningful tradition.

The event itself features a wide variety of Scandinavian treats and local favorites at the bake sale, along with a pulled pork lunch and pie social. Church members generously contribute homemade pies in countless flavors—if you can think of it, it’s likely there! Many hands come together to make this event a success. Proceeds from this ministry are given back to the church, with the United Women in Faith prayerfully discerning each year how the funds can best serve the needs of our church family.
